August’s headline story was the Midnight Network partnership, bringing Cascade’s permanent, privacy-compatible storage layer to the Midnight ecosystem. The partnership marks another step in Lumera’s ecosystem expansion, with more announcements still to come. Behind the scenes, the team also prioritized security in its decision on the EVM Mainnet upgrade timeline and continued building the revamped Lumera Hub that the community has been asking about for months.

August brought that progress into view while laying the groundwork for what comes next.

Development Updates

EVM Mainnet: A Deliberate, Security-First Timeline

Lumera’s EVM implementation has been running on Testnet since late June, and the team spent August preparing to bring it to Mainnet. Midway through that process, newly released upstream Cosmos EVM security updates prompted the team to pause the v1.20.3 upgrade proposal that was already moving through governance.

To be clear: no exploit or security incident was observed on Lumera. This was a precautionary call. The team had a proposal already progressing through governance and a live timeline to hit, and chose to let that proposal conclude cleanly rather than swap the upgrade binary mid-vote, which would have introduced unnecessary coordination risk for validators. Instead, the team is integrating and thoroughly testing the latest upstream fixes before bringing an updated proposal back through the normal governance process.

It’s a short delay, and it’s the right one. Security and network stability take priority over hitting an arbitrary date, and the team is already working through the updated release and testing now.

Once the new proposal is ready, Mainnet migration follows the same flow already rehearsed on Testnet since June: legacy Cosmos-style accounts (coin type 118) move to Ethereum-style accounts (coin type 60), migration is free, one-way, and atomic, and account holders get a 90-day window to move over. Nothing about the existing Cosmos layer changes, IBC, validators, SuperNodes, governance, and Bech32 addresses all keep working exactly as they do today, with the EVM layer running alongside it. Ecosystem and Partnerships

Midnight Network

The month’s biggest ecosystem news was the partnership with Midnight Network, a privacy-first blockchain platform built for confidential ownership, private metadata, and selective disclosure. Midnight provides strong guarantees for on-chain privacy, but application data such as NFT media, encrypted files, documents, and metadata still needs to live somewhere off-chain. Cascade fills that gap: it is identity-agnostic and privacy-compatible by design, storing data content-addressed rather than identity-addressed, so Midnight applications can store data permanently without exposing ownership or user identity.

What’s Cooking for Lumera

Beyond Midnight, the team is deep in active conversations with several additional validator operators and Layer 1 ecosystems, spanning both institutional infrastructure providers and other chains looking to integrate Cascade. These relationships are progressing well, and a run of new partnership and validator announcements is coming in the weeks ahead. Stay close to the socials, this is going to be a fun stretch.

CEX Listings

Centralized exchange listings remain a top priority, and the team continues working behind the scenes to get the necessary pieces in place. The goal is to make LUME easier to access, support deeper liquidity, and give more people a straightforward entry point into the Lumera ecosystem.

The team is taking a deliberate approach, with attention to listing structure, timing, and market conditions. These considerations remain central to preparing for broader market access. Community Highlights

The Midnight Network partnership highlighted Lumera’s growing ecosystem, while discussions on Discord throughout August focused on the EVM migration and the direction of the roadmap. Community members continued asking questions, sharing feedback, and working through what these developments mean for their use of the network.

The team also continued work on the revamped Lumera Hub, an upgraded interface bringing staking, Cascade file storage, governance, and other network services together in one place. The new Hub is expected to launch in the coming weeks, with details on the next season of community questing announced alongside it. Together, these releases will give members more ways to explore and participate in the Lumera ecosystem.

What’s Ahead

The EVM Mainnet upgrade is the clear priority heading into September. The team is finishing integration and testing of the latest upstream security fixes now, and a new governance proposal with an updated timeline will follow shortly.

The revamped Lumera Hub is launching in the coming weeks, bringing a meaningfully better interface to stakers, node operators, and everyday users, alongside the announcement of the next Foundry questing season.
